About Us Meet The Doctors Dr. James Aust  Dr. James Aust has been enjoying dentistry since earning his DDS degree from The Ohio State University in 1984. He previously earned his BS degree from Bowling Green State University. His high school and earlier years were mostly spent In Toledo where he still has family.
Following dental school, Dr Aust did an additional year of advanced training in Montreal, Quebec affiliated with McGill University. This intensive program focused on full smile reconstruction, oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry. Since returning to Columbus in 1985, Dr. Aust has devoted his practice to providing a uniquely positive dental experience for patients while developing long term relationships. He has been fortunate to surround himself with staff members over the years who share this philosophy. Like minded Dr Shawn Shaver joined the practice in 2001 and has provided a valuable addition. Dr Aust is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Columbus Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry. He is a founding member of the local Dental Excellence Study Group. He additionally works with several charitable organizations providing dentistry to those who are unable to afford traditional dental care. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Aust has a special interest in fitness and nutrition. He particularly enjoys training and competing in duathalons. He also enjoys windsurfing, racquetball and golf. His wife Tracy is an internationally known horticulturist/author and an accomplished triathlete. Their son Zachary runs track and cross country and is a magician. Dr. Shawn Shaver  Dr. Shawn Shaver joined our office in July 2001. He grew up in Worthington, OH and graduated from Thomas Worthington High School. After earning his B.S. degree in health sciences from Otterbein College in only three years, he later completed his dental training from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Shaver is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Columbus Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Additionally, he remains active in a number of study clubs including the nationally known and highly regarded Sfumato branch of the Seattle Study Club. He attends continuing education courses regularly throughout the year and feels strongly that furthering one's education is essential to stay abreast of the constantly changing dental field. Dr. Shaver also is active in local school districts and several charitable community outreach programs to encourage proper oral hygiene and provide much needed dental care. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shaver enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, and two children Cassidy and Jay in north Columbus. Hobbies include golfing, snow skiing, fishing, boating, and travel.
